Tunde Alabi Hundeyin II
Tunde Alabi Hundeyin II, who came to Sussex in 2015, investigates humanitarian photography and the politics of identity by working with children displaced by Boko Harem.
An experienced documentary photographer and film maker, Tunde came to Sussex in 2015 to study for a Media Practice for Development and Social Change MA.
He was then awarded the Chancellor’s International Research Scholarship to study for his Creative and Critical Practice PhD, with a focus on humanitarian photography.
His research investigates photography and the politics of identity. It questions the objectification narratives of children from the global south and their representation as victims of poverty, war, disaster and ill health. Working with children displaced by Boko Haram and using visual ethnography and photovoice methodology, the research brings new insights and perspectives on media representation, promoting ethical images of the distant ‘other’.
Tunde has been commissioned by charities, corporate and governmental organisation, including UNICEF, GTBank, Globacom and the Lagos state government for use in their visual storytelling. His work has been exhibited around the world.
