Hi, I'm Tillie, I'm a year-one English student at Sussex.

Besides my literature studies, I also take a Japanese pathway.

I'll be talking about my uni journey, why I started uni in Sussex, what I've enjoyed so far and some advice for you, on choosing your own university.

    [ON SCREEN TEXT] CHOOSING SUSSEX

Their higher subject ranking in English gives me a reference that I can expect a higher quality of teaching in English Studies.

Plus, Student Support and Careers and Employability gives me guidance and a clearer picture of what I want to do after my studies.
Also, having lessons in one focused campus with such beautiful scenery is what talked me into choosing Sussex.

    [ON SCREEN TEXT] STARTING UNI

Before freshers week, we international students have pre-departure talks and introduction lectures given by the 5X社区视频 and their school of studies respectively.

For Housing, after you get your 5X社区视频 managed accommodation, you can join the Facebook group set up by the 5X社区视频 so that you can find your flatmates before moving in.

Freshers week is not only the societies, fairs, and all day partying.

You'll also get introduction lectures from your course convenors.

    [ON SCREEN TEXT] FAVOURITE THINGS

Besides the scenery, what I like the most about Sussex is how academically supportive they are.

I've had supportive tutors and I find some of the uni services like the Careers and Employability Centre, Skills Hub and ELS for international students really useful for my studies.

And they often challenge us into new insights and thinking, broadening our horizons.

[ON SCREEN TEXT] HOW I’VE CHANGED

Since starting uni, I find myself opening up more and being more initiative.

Whether that's asking questions from the tutors, speaking up in seminars and exploring and experimenting with all the choices I have for my studies.

    [ON SCREEN TEXT] WHAT’S NEXT?

    What's next for me?

Maybe a placement year or several internships and of course, working hard to apply for a Masters in the future.

    [ON SCREEN TEXT] MY ADVICE

Ask yourself, is a higher subject ranking beneficial for your studies or your career?

Do you want a city campus or a focused campus?

Do you need a lot of student support from your uni?

So go to the visit days or open days to learn more about your potential university.

    Good luck!
