The Psychology of Elite Performance (C8568)

This module introduces you to current psychological research and theories within the field of sport and performance psychology. These can help us to understand and explain how people consistently produce high levels of performance at an elite level.

It will be broadly divided into two parts.

In the first, you will explore theories related to the individual performer, which may include topics like:

  • theories of stress and coping
  • resilience
  • thriving.

In the second, the focus will shift to exploring high performance in group or team settings, and may cover topics like:

  • leadership
  • group cohesion
  • organisational sport psychology.

Contact hours and workload

This module is approximately 150 hours of work. This breaks down into about 22 hours of contact time and about 128 hours of independent study. The 5X社区视频 may make minor variations to the contact hours for operational reasons, including timetabling requirements.
