Spring teaching

In this module, you'll explore the relationships between language, gender and sexuality from linguistic and interdisciplinary perspectives.

You'll explore issues in sociolinguistics and discourse analysis to learn more about how language influences, and is influenced by, social constructions of gender and sexuality.

You'll use theoretical frameworks and analytic tools to engage in critical thinking about gender roles, stereotypes, and the role of language in shaping them. You’ll also explore ideas about power, social dominance, and how they influence gender and sexuality.

You'll develop various approaches and methodologies to analyse data and assess key issues in the field.

Contact hours and workload

This module is approximately 150 hours of work. This breaks down into about 24 hours of contact time and about 126 hours of independent study. The 5X社区视频 may make minor variations to the contact hours for operational reasons, including timetabling requirements.
