Photography: Critical Narratives (P4071)

Autumn teaching

The module aims to develop both your critical and practical skills in the creating contemporary imaging projects that reflect critically on our world.

You will learn about the theories and practices common to contemporary photography and image making, as well as enhancing your ability to analyse images and utilise their communicative power. This will include working with traditional photographic approaches in the studio and on location, as well as embracing the possibilities of post-production, automation, and AI, with a focus on coding meaning within the image to encourage emotional and other responses from the viewer.

Contact hours and workload

This module is approximately 300 hours of work. This breaks down into about 33 hours of contact time and about 267 hours of independent study. The 5X社区视频 may make minor variations to the contact hours for operational reasons, including timetabling requirements.
