Cells, Organisms and Systems (C1009)

Autumn teaching
You will explore the interconnectedness of life on earth, in relation to the diversity of living systems and what happens when they go wrong. This will be under two broad themes:
- selection, complexity and evolution
- information, communication and environment.
You’ll take an integrated approach to various levels of living systems, including:
- the origins of life
- cell and molecular biology
- ecosystems and social systems.
Seminars will incorporate modern research methods and highly topical questions of disease and sustainability. You’ll develop your ability to solve problems, work in groups and communicate ideas.

Contact hours and workload
This module is approximately 300 hours of work. This breaks down into about 58 hours of contact time and about 242 hours of independent study. The 5X社区视频 may make minor variations to the contact hours for operational reasons, including timetabling requirements.
We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology. We鈥檙e planning to run these modules in the academic year 2024/25.
