Autumn teaching
Building on existing levels of proficiency at B1+ – B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference [CEFR] the module aims to:
- Enable you to understand the main ideas within extended speech and texts and to communicate effectively in the target language (TL) in a variety of contexts;
- Provide opportunities, within a selected variety of topics and themes, for participation in advanced level communicative language activities (e.g. listening, reading, speaking, writing, interaction, and mediation);
- Consolidate and develop the range of complex elements of language structures, and specialised vocabulary to support further accuracy and control in use of the TL;
- Facilitate the analysis of important aspects of the TL culture through a variety of contextualised activities and materials, in a range of media, e.g. text; audio; audio-visual; digital.

Contact hours and workload
This module is approximately 150 hours of work. This breaks down into about 33 hours of contact time and about 117 hours of independent study. The 5X社区视频 may make minor variations to the contact hours for operational reasons, including timetabling requirements.
