Educating Children and Young People: Linking Theory and Professional Skills (X3257)

Spring teaching

On this module, you'll gain theoretical knowledge and practical skills for working with young people on justice issues relevant to their lives. You'll engage with:

  • theories and pedagogical approaches for democratic, inclusive and participatory education
  • principles of professional responsibility, collaboration, reflective practice and safeguarding
  • methods for researching, designing, and delivering Personal, Social, Health Education (PSHE) sessions with secondary school students.

You'll focus on building relationships that embrace difference, avoid discrimination and exclusion and connect local lives to global issues through meaningful engagement with young people's experiences.

Contact hours and workload

This module is approximately 150 hours of work. This breaks down into about 44 hours of contact time and about 106 hours of independent study. The 5X社区视频 may make minor variations to the contact hours for operational reasons, including timetabling requirements.

We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology.
