Spring teaching

This module is designed to equip you with an understanding of the economic aspects of education. The teaching delivery will focus around discussions and debates germane to current issues in education by combining theory with empirical evidence.

Topics to be explored in this module include:

  • why does education matter (the macro and micro perspective)
  • human capital theory
  • education and earnings inequality
  • teacher’s labour market
  • school resources
  • school choice
  • the higher education market
  • a critical evaluation of education policy in the UK.

Contact hours and workload

This module is approximately 150 hours of work. This breaks down into about 33 hours of contact time and about 117 hours of independent study. The 5X社区视频 may make minor variations to the contact hours for operational reasons, including timetabling requirements.
