Body and Society: Representing Women (810V4B)
30 credits, Level 7 (Masters)
Spring teaching
From the 1970s onwards, women artists, curators and cultural theorists have actively intervened in contemporary politics. In contesting images of women and representations of the gendered body, they have challenged regimes of power and knowledge. The course follows these developments in the analysis of modern visual culture. It encompasses case studies from the 19th and 20th century period, as well as women's writings about art.
