Industrial Automation and Mechatronics (875H1)

Spring teaching

On this module, you’ll develop knowledge and understanding of key mechatronic concepts including:

  • mechanics
  • pneumatics
  • electrical
  • electronics
  • informatics.

You’ll focus on industrial applications, studying:

  • on-off control
  • programming using Programmable Logical Controllers (PLCs)
  • control of robotic arms
  • machine vision.

You’ll consider mechatronics systems as an integration of various subsystems. You’ll be able to analyse, model, design, program and cost automated manufacturing systems via the integration of such subsystems. You’ll become familiar with:

  • interpretation of technical information including representation of components using diagrams and circuits
  • general safety of operating with and around robotic and mechatronics equipment.

Contact hours and workload

This module is approximately 150 hours of work. This breaks down into about 48 hours of contact time and about 102 hours of independent study. The 5X社区视频 may make minor variations to the contact hours for operational reasons, including timetabling requirements.
