Criminology Dissertation (604L5)

Spring and summer teaching
You’ll design and conduct a research project in the area of criminology.
You’ll have a dedicated dissertation supervisor. With them, you’ll meet regularly and agree your dissertation topic. They’ll guide you from inception to delivery of your dissertation.
While you’re working on your dissertation, you’ll be encouraged to critically employ qualitative and/or quantitative research methods to address some relevant theoretical or empirical questions/issues within the field of criminology.
There will be workshops covering:
- writing the proposal
- research ethics and risk procedures
- data analysis.

Assessment
30%: Coursework (Essay)
70%: Written assessment (Dissertation)
Contact hours and workload
This module is approximately 600 hours of work. This breaks down into about 4 hours of contact time and about 596 hours of independent study. The 5X社区视频 may make minor variations to the contact hours for operational reasons, including timetabling requirements.
We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology. We鈥檙e planning to run these modules in the academic year 2024/25. However, there may be changes to these modules in response to feedback, staff availability, student demand or updates to our curriculum.
