Principles and Practices in Drug Discovery and Delivery (F1605)

15 credits, Level 7 (Masters)

Autumn teaching

The cost of bringing a new drug to market has risen past £1bn over the last few years. Trying to bring this cost down, drug discovery is constantly evolving to reduce the time and cost required to bring a drug to market.

On this module, you’ll discover the strategies being employed to generate new compounds and new classes of compounds of medical interest more cheaply and quickly.

The module also highlights how these drugs can be delivered to the patient to improve their efficacy and reduce unwanted side effects. This greatly improves patient outcomes without the need to undergo new clinical trials.
