Autumn teaching

On this module, you’ll gain the analytical and conceptual groundings for defining the issues and questions you’ll work on in your action research projects.

The module uses theory to illuminate pathways for action. It gives you a foundation for understanding and shaping social change and influencing policy and practice:

  • the first half of the course explores concepts and debates related to power, participation and social change
  • the second half of the course further explores the same themes using case studies and student experience. It introduces relevant analytical tools and practical approaches to inquiry.

In additional sessions, you’ll develop skills including:

  • academic study
  • writing
  • practices of reflective and experiential learning, including journaling, storytelling, conversation and other methods of inquiry.

Contact hours and workload

This module is approximately 300 hours of work. This breaks down into about 44 hours of contact time and about 256 hours of independent study. The 5X社区视频 may make minor variations to the contact hours for operational reasons, including timetabling requirements.
