Adventures in Poetry: Writing Workshop (910Q3B)
30 credits, Level 7 (Masters)
Spring teaching
Writing Poetry is a seminar and workshop for anyone who wants to write poetry.
We will read poetry and essays in preparation for class, but the main activity will be original creative work. You will be asked to write one poem per week and circulate the poem online to the group in advance of class. Seminars will be devoted to extended discussion of students' own work.
Lively and respectful participation in group discussion is an essential part of your work, and you will be assessed partly on the basis of the fullness and generosity of your attention to other's work.
By the end of the semester, you will have produced a collection of poems and a substantial critical preface, with the benefit of regular critical attention from fellow students and from the tutor.

We鈥檙e planning to run these modules in the academic year 2024/25. However, there may be changes to these modules in response to feedback, staff availability, student demand or updates to our curriculum.
We鈥檒l make sure to let you know of any material changes to modules at the earliest opportunity.
