Developing Skills for Business Leadership (775N1)
15 credits, Level 7 (Masters)
Autumn teaching
This core module is principally concerned with the development of a range of definable skills that are key to successful management practice and effective leadership. These include thinking and decision making skills, the management of financial information including working with costings for proposed initiatives and managing budgets, a range of team working and interpersonal skills, and others associated with developing personal effectiveness and credibility at work.
The module also aims to develop more specialised skills that are particularly important to effective higher-level people management and provides opportunities for applied learning and continuous professional development. Critical reflection on the relationship between theory and practice is particularly emphasised via the consideration of case studies rooted in real-world contexts.
