English Legal System and Skills (721M3)

Autumn teaching

Students will be introduced to the legal system of England and Wales as well as key legal skills.
 
The module examines the various sources of law, the court structure and the different branches of the legal profession.
 
Students will become familiar with key principles of statutory interpretation and the system of precedent within case law. Related to this, students will develop the ability to locate primary and secondary legal sources, interpret statutory provisions and identify the key components of decided cases.

Contact hours and workload

This module is approximately 150 hours of work. This breaks down into about 20 hours of contact time and about 130 hours of independent study. The 5X社区视频 may make minor variations to the contact hours for operational reasons, including timetabling requirements.

We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology.
