Research Project (MSc Sustainable Finance and Accounting) (123N1)

45 credits, Level 7 (Masters)

Summer teaching

The purpose of the dissertation is to demonstrate that the student has the ability to work independently; understands and can integrate and apply theories and concepts from across the programme; can conduct research at a postgraduate level and can interpret and apply research findings. This means that the dissertation/project must be firmly set in a theoretical framework and will normally seek to test explore an issue in depth using an inductive approach, or develop and test a hypothesis, or evaluate a theory against a case. It should go beyond description to provide critical analysis, synthesis, interpretation, and application. It will draw upon the concepts and techniques discussed in the Research Methods module.

Conducting research independently is one of the most challenging and rewarding components of the MSc in Sustainable Finance and Accounting. The examiners are concerned with whether you have demonstrated an understanding of the topic and its associated literature and have carefully planned, conducted, analysed and interpreted your research.

Assessment

20%: Coursework (Test)
80%: Written assessment (Dissertation)
