Research Methods for Accounting and Finance (989N1)

Spring teaching
This module equips you with an understanding of quantitative and qualitative research methodology used in accounting and finance; and it provides practice on how to apply research methods within these methodologies. The research journey will start with an exploration of the theoretical paradigms and philosophical underpinnings for both types of research methodology.
This is followed by an overview of the major research strategies that are used in accounting and finance. The journey will continue by investigating and experiencing methods of generating and analysing data. The excursion will end by reflecting on what makes good research. Throughout the course consideration is given to ethical issues in research design.

Contact hours and workload
This module is approximately 150 hours of work. This breaks down into about 33 hours of contact time and about 117 hours of independent study. The 5X社区视频 may make minor variations to the contact hours for operational reasons, including timetabling requirements.
