Policy and Practice Issues in International Education and Development (802X3)

Autumn teaching

This module explores contemporary perspectives associated with educational policy and practice in development contexts. We'll critically examine these concerns including the influence of international, regional and national agendas, and to ones associated with processes at the local level including in schools and classrooms.

A range of global education and development policy issues are explored in this module including the relationship between:

  • education and conflict
  • education, democracy and citizenship
  • education and poverty
  • education and international aid
  • education privatisation
  • education, health and HIV/AIDS.

In examining these major policy issues, we'll consider the interrelationship between education policy reform and practice, and between international education agendas and national policy priorities.

Contact hours and workload

This module is approximately 300 hours of work. This breaks down into about 33 hours of contact time and about 267 hours of independent study. The 5X社区视频 may make minor variations to the contact hours for operational reasons, including timetabling requirements.
