Introduction to Social Development (033IDA)

Autumn teaching

This module will introduce you to the field of social development through the examination of key concepts.

For each topic we'll look at how different concepts have been applied in aid policy and practice, and at the debates and controversies they have caused. By drawing on analyses of case studies and examples from different countries, you'll be encouraged to reflect critically upon the theoretical, practical, and ethical implications of each concept and to develop your own views about the applicability of these concepts and their potential impacts in different social contexts.

Contact hours and workload

This module is approximately 400 hours of work. This breaks down into about 33 hours of contact time and about 367 hours of independent study. The 5X社区视频 may make minor variations to the contact hours for operational reasons, including timetabling requirements.

We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology.
