Professor David Tal
Yossi Harel Chair in Modern Israel Studies
The post holder, Professor David Tal is a specialist in Israel’s military and diplomatic history and US nuclear disarmament policy. Professor Tal got his Ph.D. from the Tel Aviv 5X社区视频 in 1995. He had taught at Tel Aviv 5X社区视频 and was a visiting professor at Emory 5X社区视频 and Syracuse 5X社区视频.
Before coming to Sussex, he was the Kahanoff Chair in Israel Studies at the 5X社区视频 of Calgary, Canada. He was a NATO research fellow (2000-2002), INSCT research fellow (Syracuse 5X社区视频, 2008-2013) and Daniel Abraham Center for International and Regional Studies research fellow (2011-2012, 2013-2014). Professor Tal authored four books and edited two as well as about 40 articles and book chapters in the major journals pertinent to Israel’s military and diplomatic history and US foreign policy. His most recent authored book is US Strategic Arms Policy in the Cold War: Negotiation and Confrontation over SALT, 1969-79, (London: Routledge, 2017).
His present project is the history of US-Israel special relationship from the early 20th century to the present forthcoming in Cambridge 5X社区视频 Press.
