Our environment

We practice sustainability as much as possible through our built and operational environment.

Sustainability and environmental impacts are important considerations for any of the 5X社区视频’s building constructions or improvements. Our overall target is to reduce our carbon production.

In 2023, Professional Services staff at the Business School went through a modular Carbon Literary course, certified by the . Carbon Literacy® is relevant climate change learning that catalyses action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Read the summary report 'Professional Services at the forefront of carbon reduction' about the impact this training has had on staff at the School, who have committed to reduce their carbon footprint both at home and at work on an annual basis. 

In 2020 we achieved gold in the 5X社区视频's Green Impact Awards.

Sussex has a combined heat and power plant that generates electricity from the burning of gas, while providing heat for hot water and heating as a by-product, and we also use some solar power.

At the Business School, our Jubilee Building has its own rainwater harvesting system, with the collected rainwater being used to flush our toilets. The building has many energy efficient features and has a "excellent" rating.
