Giving to Article 26
Your donation to the Article 26 Scholarship will help a forced migrant or a refugee living in the UK to study at Sussex. You will be creating a life-changing opportunity for them and in many cases, their family too.
For so many bright and aspiring students, the opportunity to access higher education remains an impossible dream. Unable to access student financing their education stops abruptly at the age of 18. The security of a fully funded scholarship means the barrier to funding is removed and the uncertainty and anxiety about their future is addressed.
While the scholarship removes the financial burden, it also recognises and celebrates the academic ambition and the potential of these students. The current cohort of Article 26 Scholars come from the Bahamas, Gambia, Iraq, Mauritius, Nigeria and Pakistan. Every one of the students would say that your gift will create a life-changing opportunity for them.
Whether you make a regular gift or a one-off donation, your support will go direct to a forced migrant or refugee studying at Sussex. As a donor, we would keep you informed and updated on scholar’s academic achievements and their time at Sussex. Given their status as forced migrants or refugees it may be that these reports are anonymised, but you will see the value and impact of your donation.
These awards are truly transformational and make the difference between being able to study for a degree or not.”
