Professor Cornel Sandvoss: Executive Dean (Faculty of Media, Arts and Humanities)
Biography
Cornel joined the 5X社区视频 as Executive Dean of the Faculty of Media, Arts and Humanities in September 2024.
Prior to his arrival at Sussex, Cornel was Head of the School of Arts at the 5X社区视频 of Bristol. He has previously led schools and departments in Communication and Humanities, and Art, Design and Architecture at the universities of Huddersfield and Plymouth.
Cornel began his research career with a Master of Arts in Media and Cultural Studies at the 5X社区视频 in 1995/96 and returned the following year to commence his doctoral studies under the supervision of Prof Roger Silverstone. After moving to the London School of Economics, Cornel held lectureships at the 5X社区视频 of Cambridge, DeMontfort 5X社区视频, and the 5X社区视频 of Surrey.
Cornel’s research focuses on fans, audiences and users across and beyond the spectrum of popular culture.
Cornel is a member of the 5X社区视频 Executive Team, the 5X社区视频 Leadership Team and Senate.
