Think critically and develop the skills and understanding required for explaining scientific concepts to a range of audiences.
You’ll explore the different types of scientific explanations, and will bring these ideas together to develop your knowledge of questioning. You’ll look at the modelling of scientific concepts and processes to aid effective explanations.
You’ll have opportunities to deliver:
- an oral presentation
- a poster presentation
- team debates
- essays
- scientific journal write-ups.
Base your research and communication on scientific content inlcuding green chemistry, environmental chemistry and climate change.
Module learning outcomes
- Apply knowledge and understanding of how concepts in chemistry can be communicated to a specific audience.
- Draw upon a range of sources to inform the development of effective explanations in science and chemistry.
- Demonstrate ability to critically evaluate theories and concepts used in explaining chemistry to a specific audience.
- Apply problem solving skills to develop explanations that challenge a specific misconception.
