Autism Across the Lifespan (C8903)

Spring teaching
In this module, you'll study autism spectrum disorder, a neurodevelopmental condition, across all stages of the lifespan – from early childhood into old age.
You'll focus on cognition, whilst contextualising the condition at different stages of development.
You’ll explore areas in childhood and adolescence, including:
- memory
- language
- learning
- the ‘self’
- mental health
- transgender issues
You will also examine adulthood topics including:
- Bayesian theories of perception
- maternal autism
- memory
- sensory
- emotional processing
You will finish with addressing some of the consequences of ageing in autism.

Contact hours and workload
This module is approximately 150 hours of work. This breaks down into about 22 hours of contact time and about 128 hours of independent study. The 5X社区视频 may make minor variations to the contact hours for operational reasons, including timetabling requirements.
