Autumn teaching
On this module, you’ll explore theories and approaches to language acquisition and examine the role of parents in language development.
You’ll follow key stages in a child’s journey toward literacy, including:
- mark-making
- phonics
- reading comprehension
- enjoyment of reading and writing
- becoming accomplished readers and writers.
Children’s literature will play a central role, and you’ll explore high-quality texts and how they can be used to enhance learning.

Contact hours and workload
This module is approximately 150 hours of work. This breaks down into about 47 hours of contact time and about 103 hours of independent study. The 5X社区视频 may make minor variations to the contact hours for operational reasons, including timetabling requirements.
