Engaging in Enquiry (159X3)
30 credits, Level 7 (Masters)
Autumn teaching
This module empowers you to explore a context-specific interest in education through a facilitated research process.
You will be guided through a modest empirical project, including:
- the formation of focused research questions
- establishing an appropriate research design
- applying different data collection tools and data analysis strategies.
Findings and critical reflections are shared through a peer-reviewed presentation of the research.
You’ll develop practical and theoretical understandings of research methods, and critically informed knowledge of a substantive topic of personal and professional relevance.
You’ll also have the opportunity to develop the initial case study research, ahead of tackling a more substantial and complex research project in the future.

This module is approximately 300 hours of work. This breaks down into about 30 hours of contact time and about 270 hours of independent study. The 5X社区视频 may make minor variations to the contact hours for operational reasons, including timetabling requirements.
We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology. We鈥檙e planning to run these modules in the academic year 2024/25. However, there may be changes to these modules in response to feedback, staff availability, student demand or updates to our curriculum.
We鈥檒l make sure to let you know of any material changes to modules at the earliest opportunity.
