Tort Law (723M3)
15 credits, Level 7 (Masters)
Spring teaching
Tort law introduces you to the conditions for establishing liability for negligently inflicted harm.
You'll evaluate courts’ approaches to different types of harm through a detailed examination of decided case law.
The module will consider the interaction between negligence and other areas of tortious liability such as:
- occupiers’ liability
- product liability and nuisance/Rylands v Fletcher liability
- the remedies and defences available.
You'll critically engage with academic commentary and judicial reasoning in order to assess the extent to which the legal rules in this area are consistent with underlying legal principles.
