Module Outline
This module provides a holistic and integrated approach towards robot design. Components such as end-effectors, joints, links, actuators, and sensors are discussed and concepts on kinematics, dynamics and control are revisited. Analytical modelling, image processing techniques, electronic circuit assembly, microcontroller programming and robot prototyping skills are developed during the module. The project requires students to work in teams to propose, design, and demonstrate a physical robotic system that achieves a specific function or task. Through this project, students gain practical experience in designing, modelling, implementing, and analysing such systems, along with teamwork, communication, and report writing skills.

Module learning outcomes
Apply the knowledge of robotics, mechanical and electronics engineering and take an integrated approach to addressing real-world engineering problems.
Design, analyse, and implement a physical robotic prototype
Understand and apply selection of components, materials, and fabrication processes for realising designed solutions
Communicate the technical information and justify the design and implementation of a robotics project to specialist and non-specialist audiences
