New resources and events to support your wellbeing

Days are getting shorter and the weather is getting colder. It is important for you to focus on your wellbeing by providing yourself with self-care. This can include getting active, getting natural light when you can and spending time with loved ones.
Read on for more information and opportunities to support your wellbeing this month.
New resources and events in November
Wellbeing Canvas site

16 Days of Activism against Gender Based Violence
Starting on 25 November (International day for the Elimination of Violence against Women) and ending on 10 December (Human Rights Day), there will be a programme of events. Follow us on Instagram @universityofsussexwellbeing for more details.
Additional Wellbeing stalls
There are additional wellbeing stalls across the campus. If you are unsure where to go to get help with your health and wellbeing, this is a good place to start.
- 5 November (12-2pm): Freeman student area
- 13 November (11am-1pm): Chichester 1 social space
- 19 November (11am-1pm): Arts C social space
- 27 November (2-4pm): Pevensey 2, just inside entrance
- 3 December (12-2pm): Essex House near entrance
Consent Training Workshop by Survivors’ Network
This workshop, going live on 27 November, is open to all students who want to be part of the change in building a respectful and supportive campus culture. The agenda involves defining and understanding consent, sexual safety in our communities, bystander intervention, and support and care. You will also be awarded Spirit of Sussex Award points for attending the workshop. Click here to sign up.
Movember
Movember serves to promote male health. Show us your before and after photos after a month of not shaving! This promotes conversations about mental health, suicide, prostate cancer and testicular cancer.
Peer support group for survivors of sexual violence
This is a group for any student who has experienced sexual or domestic violence that runs fortnightly by a therapist and a specialist advisor. To join this, please email svdv@sussex.ac.uk.
Stress awareness day – Chair Mobility sessions in the Student Centre
In collaboration with Active US, join a stress reducing session of chair movement on Thursday 7 November from 11am-2pm. The practice allows for individuals to enjoy the physical and mental benefits of yoga without needing to perform complex postures. You can book a 15-minute slot using
Terrence Higgins Trust sessions
The Terrence Higgins Trust is hosting two webinars and a drop-in for students.
to attend a webinar about HIV awareness on Friday 8 November at 1pm.
to attend a webinar about chem sex on Friday 15 November at 1pm.
The Terrence Higgins Trust will be in the Student Centre talking about PrEP on the Wednesday 27 November from 1-3pm.

Wellbeing stalls (Thursdays during term time)
Not sure where to go? Come and speak to the wellbeing team on Thursdays from 12-2pm in the atrium of the Student Centre to find information about where you can go for support.
Our stalls will have the following themes:

- 14 November: diabetes awareness day
- 21 November: 5X社区视频 drug and alcohol awareness week.
