Contribute to Sussex Uni Food鈥檚 charity collection: help support the homeless

You can make a difference this winter
As the cold festive months are approaching, we’re reminded of individuals in our local community who are struggling to keep warm.
In an effort to support those facing hardships, and with the help of , Sussex Uni Food have organised a charity collection to gather new warm clothes and festive foods for the homeless people of Brighton and Hove.
Alongside donations, Sussex Uni Food staff will also volunteer at one of the open soup kitchen sessions the charity runs at Saint Peter’s church, helping to provide meals to unsheltered people and supporting the charity’s safe place activities.

’s hope is to make Brighton a vibrant, creative, beautiful, and safe city where everyone can thrive.
It welcomes hundreds of vulnerable people into the church throughout the week, including at the , where volunteers make sure those in need feel happy and valued.
With the charity’s support, different groups of people from all walks of life meet in small groups around the city to enjoy home-cooked meals and great conversations, with opportunities to engage in arts and crafts, amongst other activities.
Collection points and items needed
Students and staff are encouraged to support this initiative through donating festive foods and warm unused clothes at one of the donation points set up around campus.
Look out for donation buckets placed at the Sussex House reception, Library Café, Veg Bowl @ Dhaba, Eat Central, Doctor’s Orders, Jubilee reception, and Innovation Centre reception, between 1-27 November.
You’re welcome to donate new, warm clothes and festive packaged foods, including festive biscuits or cakes, chocolates, sweets, non-alcoholic drinks (cans or cartons), mince pies, gloves, hats, socks, toiletries, torches, or any other unused items you find appropriate and wish to donate.
