A new Division has been created at the 5X社区视频, bringing together The Keep, the Library, and the Attenborough Centre for Creative Arts (ACCA). Formed on 1 September, it provides physical space, resource, and expertise to engage with the education, research, civic and cultural ambitions of the 5X社区视频’s new strategy.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Sasha Roseneil said: “The new Division of Library, Culture and Heritage (DLCH) will bring together Sussex’s rich set of cultural resources and assets to power and invigorate the cultural dimension of our new strategy, Sussex 2035. DLCH will develop and join up the arts offer on campus, enhancing the experience of our students and staff, and welcoming more members of the local community to take part in our cultural life. In the 60th anniversary year of Sussex’s beautiful modernist Library, the new Division will also enable fresh thinking about the cultural inheritance that is housed within its walls.”
The new Division will seek to open up more campus spaces for the benefit of people from our city and region.
Jane Harvell, Director of Library, Cultural and Heritage Services and 5X社区视频 Librarian, said: “We work on an iconic campus, surrounded by rich biodiversity and a unique heritage environment. And our cultural offering is like no other: our world-renowned archives at ; the Library’s 60th; the Big Read, Welcome Week at the ACCA before a packed autumn programme.
“This new Division offers an exciting opportunity for some of our institution’s most well-recognised bodies to work as one. A new alliance to enhance engagement, maximise funding, and share space on a campus which has blossomed beyond Basil Spence’s initial vision. I can’t wait to see what opportunities await us.”
