Jess Mitchell, a final-year student on our Liberal Arts course has just succeeded in having published in The Badger her remarkable and moving article on the harrowing story of three young sisters from Sudan. The result of hours of interviews with these young women now in safety in a small British town and as part of her final year project supervised by , Jess’s article sheds light on the courage and resilience of young women in Sudan today, a story rarely heard in the UK mainstream media.
“It’s a brilliant read,” says her Sussex supervisor Dr Feras Alkabani, “and shows just what one of our Liberal Arts students can achieve in the real world”. (Senior Lecturer in Community Engagement) added, “What an impactful project! I thoroughly enjoyed reading Jess’s article, particularly the parts about womanhood and the freedom to feel things openly”.
